Zimmer Institute Advanced Surgical Programs faculty consists of recognized Surgical and Restorative experts in implant dentistry. Pamela L. Alberto

Dr. Alberto earned her D.M.D. from University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine–Philadelphia, PA, and her Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from University Hospital-UMDNJ–Newark, NJ.

Formerly the Assistant Dean of Predoctoral Education, Dr. Alberto is currently a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School in Newark, NJ.

She is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Dental Association, International Society of Plastic, Anesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery and a Diplomat of the International College of Dentists.

Dr. Alberto lectures extensively on dental implants and jaw reconstruction nationally and internationally.

Glen Applebaum
Glen M. Applebaum graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1978 receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. He is the recipient of the William Pitt Mason Prize and Class of 1902 Research Prize both awarded by Rensselaer. He received his DDS degree from NYU College of Dentistry in 1981 and completed a one year residency program in General Dentistry at New Rochelle Hospital Medical Center in 1982. Dr. Applebaum is a member of the ADA, Dental Society of the State of New York, and Ninth District Dental Society. He is also a member of the American College of Oral Implantology and serves as an implant prosthetic speaker for Zimmer Dental and Adjunct Instructor at the Medical University of South Carolina Dental School. Dr. Applebaum achieved Fellowship status in the ICOI and Mastership status in the Implant Prosthodontic Section (IPS) of the ICOI, and has served as Vice Director of the Membership Committee of the IPS. He also served as prosthetic advisor to the Westchester Implant Study Club from 1995-1997. Dr. Applebaum was the recipient of first place honors in table clinic presentations at the annual IPS meeting in 1999, and he has been published in the Canadian Dental Journal Oral Health, the Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Dental Surgery Products. Dr. Applebaum maintains a practice in general dentistry in New Rochelle, New York, has been involved with implant dentistry since 1987 and has been presenting seminars for restorative dentists since 1995.

Monish Bhola
Dr. Bhola is Co-Director of Implant Dentistry at the school of dentistry, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is licensed in basic and advanced cardiac life support and certified in the use of Intravenous sedation. Dr. Bhola also maintains a private practice limited to Periodontics and Implants in Waterford, Michigan

Sidney Bourgeois
SIDNEY L. BOURGEOIS, Jr., D.D.S., obtained his dental degree from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in May 1991. In August 2006, Dr. Bourgeois resigned his Commission in the United States Navy and joined the faculty at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas as a Clinical Assistant Professor. He received his commission as a Lieutenant in the Dental Corps of the United States Navy in January 1993. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio, Texas in June 2002. He currently practices in Syracuse, New York. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, member of the American Dental Association, and Academy of Osseointegration. He is a member of the AO North America Craniomaxillofacial Faculty.

Suheil Boutros
Dr. Boutros is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy, where he earned his D.D.S. degree, and received his Master’s degree and specialty certificate in Periodontology from the University of Minnesota. He has devoted more than 20 years to the private practice of dental health, specializing in periodontics and dental implants. Currently, he is the Director of Periodontal Specialists of Grand Blanc and Clarkston in Michigan.

Brian Mealey
BRIAN L. MEALEY, D.D.S., M.S., received his dental degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Dental School in 1983. He attained his specialty certificate in Periodontics from Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base in 1990 and a Master of Science in Periodontics from The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Currently, Dr. Mealey is the Graduate Program Director in the Department of Periodontics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. In addition to his position at the Health Science Center, he is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A&M University Health System. He is the former Chairman of the Department of Periodontics and Graduate Program Director of the U.S. Air Force Periodontics Residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Mealey is a Director of the American Board of Periodontology. He has published over 70 articles, abstracts, and textbook chapter. In addition, he is the co-editor and author of 2 textbooks: Periodontal Medicine, published in 2000, and Periodontics: Medicine, Surgery, and Implants, published in 2004.

John C. Minichetti
Dr. John Minichetti is a general dentist who has been placing and restoring implants for over 25 years. He is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID). He is an honorary fellow of the AAID and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/ Implant Dentistry. Dr. Minichetti is a former faculty member of Fairleigh Dickenson University and Mt Sinai Medical School, an attending at Englewood Hospital and Chairman Department of dentistry Meadowlands Hospital. He is past president of the Northeast district of the AAID and President of the Bergen County Dental Implant Study Group, Co-Director of the NY AAID Study Club. Dr. Minichetti now serves as Treasurer of the AAID and Chairman of the AAID Research Foundation. Dr. Minichetti is the director of the Dental Implant Learning Center, where he instructs a year long “mini-residency” for dentists learning both implant surgery and restoration. He is the Director of the Las Vegas 300 hour AAID Maxicourse ® in implant dentistry and teaches at the Zimmer Institute. He has published numerous scientific articles and lectured worldwide.

Rodrigo Neiva
Dr. Rodrigo Neiva, DDS, MS The Graduate Program Director and a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontology at University of Florida, College of Dentistry. He received his MS and certificate in Periodontics from the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry. Dr Neiva has published several articles in the field of Periodontology and Implantology and he lectures both nationally and internationally. He maintains a part-time intramural practice limited to Periodontology and Implantology. Dr Neiva is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and also a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Paul Petrungaro
Dr. Paul Petrungaro, DDS, MS is a world-renowned and preeminent educator; he has presented numerous seminars and lectures worldwide on topics of advanced periodontal, prosthetic and implant inter-relationships, bone regeneration, aesthetic tissue formation, transitional implants, immediate restoration of dental implants, and the use of platelet rich plasma in bone grafting. In addition, he has authored over 75 articles on these topics including cosmetic bone grafting and aesthetic implant procedures in such prestigious publications as The Compendium, Inside Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Glenn Reside
Clinical Associate Professor in the Department. He earned a BS degree in Chemistry at Illinois College, a MS degree in Biochemistry at the University of Illinois, and a DMD degree at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Immediately after college he entered military service and became a Special Forces Officer assigned to Vietnam. Upon return to the United States, he went to graduate school and dental school and then completed a General Practice Residency at Womack Army Hospital, Fort Bragg, NC and an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX. During his military career he served as the Chief, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at army hospitals in Germany, Virginia, Kansas, and North Carolina. His last assignment was as the Program Director of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency training program and Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC. After retiring from the military he became the Section Head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Reside joined the faculty in July 2003. He is the Director of Dental Student Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery education and the primary faculty for dental implantology in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency training program. His other interests include dentoalveolar surgery, outpatient anesthesia, and the treatment of pathology and trauma to the facial bones. Doctor Reside was the recipient of the 2006 Richard F. Hunt Memorial Award recognizing his excellence in pre-doctoral teaching.

Harry G Sacks
Dr. Sacks, a Diplomate of both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, maintains a private practice in New Hyde Park, New York and is currently the Director of the division of Implant Dentistry at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in New York City. He holds the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor at both New York University College of Dentistry and New York Medical College, where he previously served as the Assistant Director of the advanced training program in OMS.

TIM SILEGY

In addition to maintaining private practices in Long Beach and Newport Beach, Dr. Silegy teaches continuing education courses to physicians, dentists, nurses, hygienists and auxiliaries throughout the country. He has also traveled to Latin America on medical missions to help the impoverished.

Dr. Sonick has received extensive post-doctoral training in implant surgery, bone-grafting, cosmetic reconstruction and periodontics. He not only maintains a clinical practice but also directs a dental implant teaching center, publishes journal articles and lectures both across the United States and around the world. Dr, Sonick and his colleague, Dr. Debby Hwang are proud to have recently released the textbook “Implant Site Development”.

James Winkler
Dr. Winkler is internationally recognized for his work on HIV. Dr. Winkler received his DDS and PhD in Biological Sciences from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Certificate in Periodontics from the University of California at San Francisco. Dr. Winkler is currently a full time instructor at University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and Chair of the Department of Periodontology and Dental Hygiene. He teaches interdisciplinary courses in biological basis to soft tissue disease to both dental and dental hygiene students. His interests include the management of oral manifestations of immunocompromised patients. His research focuses on histopathogenesis of periodontal diseases.

Matt Young
Matthew R. Young, DDS earned his dental of doctor surgery degree from of the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, graduating with honors. He completed a General Practice Residency Program at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA where he received the honor of Outstanding Resident of the Year. He currently serves there as an attending. Dr. Young is a credentialed member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. For the American Academy of Implant Dentistry he serves on the Western District Board of Directors and on its National Education Committee. Dr. Young maintains a successful private practice in Downtown San Francisco. Dr. Young is the Director of Bay Area Implant Synergy and serves on the Board of Directors for the San Francisco Dental Society. Dr. Young lectures Nationally and Internationally on Implant Dentistry.
